SF Crypto Product Manager Coalition - Monthly October Meetup

The purpose of the SF Crypto Product Manager Coalition is to build community amongst Crypto PMs. Developing dApps is hard, and knowing what to develop is even harder. If the crypto ecosystem is going to succeed, we must collaborate, encourage, and support each other. Developers have robust communities, and it's increasingly important that PMs have a community too.

Join us for the next SF Crypto Product Manager Coalition meetup at Starfish Mission!

Aaron Soskin, founder of Govrn, will be giving a presentation on one of the biggest current societal challenges: how we can fix Campaign Finance using blockchain solutions and game theory.

Topics we'll be covering:

  • How Govrn uses the Prisoners Dilemma Framework to fix Campaign Finance

  • How we can leverage cryptoeconomic mechanisms such as Auctions (VCG, Dutch), Sub-Game Perfect Equilibrium, and Quadratic Voting to build better crypto products

  • Govrn's product journey

Networking will begin at 630pm and the presentation will start at 7pm.

PIZZA AND DRINKS WILL BE PROVIDED!

*A video link will provided in the Discord channel for those not in SF to join remotely*

Don't forget to join the conversation on Discord! https://discord.gg/sv7YYW8

The group's Trello board is here:https://trello.com/invite/b/FU52xFXI/3ece3c5f9613304e7e0a33b5447301be/sf-pm-crypto-coalition

Our mission to support consumers adoption and educate the masses led us to challenge the high costs of conference tickets around the world. Therefore, we decided to price our tickets at cost so we can deliver a meaningful event yet still be inclusive and welcome everyone who desires to attend. In addition, we decided to donate any profits left after the event to multiple non-profits who are donating their time and sweat to the blockchain community in SF.

About SF Blockchain Week
We are excited to announce SF Blockchain Week 2019 which provides world-class education for both consumers and developers with the goal of pushing the boundaries of blockchain innovation. Internet 3.0 : Decentralize everything

Title: Internet 3.0: Decentralize everything

Internet 1.0 is HTML websites.
Internet 2.0 is a social network and user-created content.
Internet 3.0 is the decentralization of everything: decentralization of marketplaces, of resource usage and allocation, etc.

Is Internet 3.0 the P2P of everything?

Examples of decentralization include:

Decentralized exchanges (Ether Delta)
Decentralize computing power (Golem)
Decentralize IP address allocation (JACS)
Decentralize file storage (Filecoin)
Decentralize domain naming (Namecoin)
Decentralize cloud storage (Storj)
Decentralize databases (BigchainDB, IPFS)
Decentralize financial services (Bitcoin, Litecoin, etc.)
Decentralize protocol approval (Tezos)
etc.

We will host a panel of 2-3 startups working on the Internet 3.0 framework as well as professionals who can advise on the framework ( legal, regulatory, etc.) to make this possible.

Agenda

• 6pm - 6:30pm networking, light cocktail

• 6:30pm - 7:30pm panel and Q&A

• 7:30pm - 8pm networking, light cocktail

Everyone knows the Bay ❤️'s costumes, so we encourage (borderline demand) you dress up as a SF/Bay Area neighborhood. What does Marina, Castro, Oakland look like to you? We'll give away a special prize 🎁 to the best costume.

Here's so other random stuff we'll probably have:
🎵 Obviously the best musicians (lineup TBA)
⚡️ Interactive installations
🎨 Art exhibitions
🎭 Performers

Bitcoin Meetup - PROOF OF CALAMITY: Why today's DEXs & atomic swaps can't win

Note: Remember to RSVP!

Everyone wants trustless trade, except Decentralized Exchanges haven't taken off. Volume is abysmal. Have DEXs been overhyped? And we've heard promises of cross-chain atomic swaps, but where are they in practical implementation? Are we being promised snake oil?

Join blockchain engineer Eric Martindale (BlockStream and BitPay) and Dr. Chandra Duggirala (Founder, Portal) as they discuss the fundamentals of inter-chain trading and explain it will always be near impossible for the type of DEX offerings and atomic swaps in the market today to come anywhere close to the speed and liquidity centralized exchanges provide.

BUT-- WHAT IF WE DIDN'T HAVE TO SACRIFICE SPEED & LIQUIDITY FOR TRUSTLESSNESS & PRIVACY? Despite all prior impossibilities, could there ever be unstoppable exchange technology without compromise? And exactly how would it work?

Chandra & Eric will share their zero-knowledge Layer 2 & Layer 3 trading protocol "ZK-Swaps" with San Francisco Bitcoin Meetup and open up atomic swap discussion with the community.

--

SPEAKERS:
Eric Martindale: Blockchain, open-source engineering strategist. Early at BlockStream. Early at BitPay. Advisor to Leminscap Fund.

Dr. Chandra Duggirala: Founder/CEO of PORTAL. Cryptoeconomist, Austrian Economics. Angel investor. Maximalist.

We'll have free beer, other beverages and food as usual (the food usually goes quickly)! And finally, to give a lightning talk, just add your name to the list at the beginning of the meetup.

SF Crypto Product Manager Coalition - Monthly September Meetup!

SF Crypto Product Manager Coalition - Monthly September Meetup!

Ganesh Swami, a data analyst & co-founder at Covalent, will be giving a presentation on one of the most exciting projects live on Ethereum: the Uniswap decentralized exchange!

About Uniswap: Launched in 2018, Uniswap is a protocol for automated ERC20 token exchanges on Ethereum. Uniswap has no native token, no listing fees, and the entire source code for all smart contracts is open-source and public. Uniswap is uniquely differentiated from other decentralized exchanges because it maintains no order book.

Topics we'll be covering (whiteboarding + live demo):

  • How Uniswap's automated market-making mechanism works

  • How Liquidity Providers are compensated for providing capital

  • How to calculate your returns as a liquidity provider

  • If time permits: secondary use-cases of Uniswap – price feeds, liquidity tokens, building on Uniswap, etc.

*All attendees will get DAI to dig in to the hands-on demo!*

Networking will begin at 630pm and the presentation will start at 7pm.

PIZZA AND DRINKS WILL BE PROVIDED!

*A video link will provided in the Discord channel for those not in SF to join remotely*

Don't forget to join the conversation on Discord! https://discord.gg/sv7YYW8

sbt-ethereum: The Blockchain Is the Dapp with Steve Randy Waldman

Agenda:
6:00pm: Networking
6:30pm: sbt-ethereum Presentation

-----------------------------------------------------

Ethereum has been live for more than four years, and we are still waiting for the killer dApp.

That’s just dumb.

The Ethereum blockchain is a utility that ordinary people with a modicum of technical sophistication can use directly, on our own terms. The ICO boom funded a lot of us, but it also derailed us by encouraging us to imagine the blockchain as a “backend" upon which expensively funded startups would build applications with “good UX” for “end users”.

Shouldn’t the point of the blockchain revolution be to dissolve rather than reinforce the distinction between “buidlers” and end-users? Must we wait around for every idea or experiment to launch with a sexy web or mobile user interface? A well-designed smart contract with an intuitive API can automatically define a straightforward UI. We should all be able to make our own homes on the blockchain.

sbt-ethereum is a tool intended to make Ethereum applications accessible to anyone not frightened by a command line or text-based app. It helps users get past the ugly, rough edges of interacting with the blockchain. Replace long hex addresses with intuitive aliases. Associate ABIs with addresses just once in your installation's permanent database, then tab complete to list and call smart-contract methods directly. sbt-ethereum is a keystore and wallet, a client to any smart contract, an ens manager, and a development environment for new smart contracts. For Scala developers, it produces high-performance stubs to integrate smart-contract interaction into any application, and serves as an extensible platform to build easy-to-use CLIs for Ethereum apps.

sbt-ethereum is a terminal for the world computer.

Steve will provide a quick tour of sbt-ethereum. If you come with laptops ready, he’ll help get you started.

Marketing and Blockchain - Leveraging Libra. How can blockchain marketers leverage the Libra story?

Libra has lit a fire under the cryptocurrency industry and received global attention as well as the House of Congress and Senate. It is at the heart of conversations for people in tech, crypto, and even politics.

Journalists and analysts are craving for information to craft an interesting angle. The debate rages on as to if it is an actual cryptocurrency, digital asset, or another privacy attack.

And whether you care or not about Libra, it is a perfect opportunity for crypto companies to enter the conversation and get their names out there through social, marketing and PR campaigns. With all eyes on Libra, it is an opportunity to showcase the true power of the decentralized web digital currencies and blockchain.

In the third meetup of our ‘Marketing in Blockchain’ series, a panel we will discuss some of the tactics that have worked in piggybacking on the attention Libra has received from beyond the crypto bubble, and how we can continue to capitalize on it.

Chainlink: Connected Consensus on Ethereum

Agenda:
6:00pm: Networking
6:30pm: Chainlink Presentation

-----------------------------------------------------

Presentation:

The 'oracle problem' is one of the thorniest issues in blockchain development. The oracle problem can be summarized with a simple question: how do you accurately, securely and quickly import data from the outside world onto a blockchain platform? Chainlink is one of the leading protocols seeking to solve this problem, and has recently seen its adoption grow by leaps and bounds, involving partnerships with companies like Google, Oracle, and many others.

Sergey Nazarov, the founder and CEO of Chainlink, will give a presentation about how Chainlink works, how you can integrate it into your Dapp, and the things that are coming next on its development roadmap. Be sure you come to this amazing event!

SF Crypto Product Manager Coalition

SF Crypto Product Manager Coalition

The purpose of the SF Crypto Product Manager Coalition is to build community amongst Crypto PMs. Developing dApps is hard, and knowing what to develop is even harder. If the crypto ecosystem is going to succeed, we must collaborate, encourage, and support each other. Developers have robust communities, and it's increasingly important that PMs have a community too.

Join us for the 2nd SF Crypto Product Manager Coalition meetup at Starfish Mission! We will have a presentation on one of the topics we brainstormed at the last event (topic TBD). The Trello board with a list of topics can be found here: https://trello.com/invite/b/FU52xFXI/3ece3c5f9613304e7e0a33b5447301be/sf-pm-crypto-coalition

Don't forget to join the conversation on Discord! https://discord.gg/CPCaRZ

PIZZA AND DRINKS WILL BE PROVIDED!

*A video link will provided in the Discord channel for those not in SF to join remotely*
